Leapin’ Lizards! The Atlanta Lyric Theatre will perform one of the most beloved musicals of all time, “Annie,” on April 4 to 20 at The Jennie T. Anderson Theatre in Marietta.

This must-see optimistic family show will make audiences of all ages feel good.

“The show takes place during the depression era of the 1930’s and Annie’s optimism and spunk reminds her fellow orphans, and the nation, that ‘the sun will come out tomorrow.’ Even today, as our nation struggles financially with political division strong, ‘Annie’ is perfectly timed to remind us all that tomorrow brings hope of a brighter day,” said Brandt Blocker, managing artistic director of the Lyric.

The Lyric staging features sets by Tony Award-winning designer Ming Cho Lee, the original Tony Award-winning costume design of Theoni V. Aldredge, and the impeccable sounds of the live Atlanta Lyric Orchestra.

The show is a chance for the community to celebrate and support the spectacular local talent represented in this production.

“The show features 19 of the most talented young female artists in the area, including Sarah Charles Lewis as Annie. Sarah was one of eight finalists for Annie on Broadway. She is an amazing talent,” said Blocker, an east Cobb resident.

Additionally, the show features award-winning local professional actors Kevin Harry as Daddy Warbucks, Marcie Millard as Miss Hannigan, Claci Miller as Lilly St. Regis, and Logan Denninghoff as Rooster.

“Also, we have the most beautiful dog, Miss Dashwood, a gorgeous Golden Retriever, playing the role of Sandy,” he said.

With the recent loss of Theatre of the Stars, The Lyric is the only remaining professional musical theater company in Atlanta.

“Audiences should show their support by letting the community know that we want and deserve professional musical theater in our community,” Blocker said.

The Jennie T. Anderson Theatre is at 548 S. Marietta Parkway, Marietta.
