MARIETTA — A couple was arrested Thursday evening just west of Dobbins Air Reserve Base on charges of trafficking a half pound of methamphetamine.

According to the warrant, Wilmer Caballero of Smyrna and Esther Guadarrama of Marietta were stopped on the corner of Old Concord Road and South Cobb Drive after traveling more than 40 mph, 20 mph over the posted speed limit, through a crowded residential apartment parking lot.

The warrant states the couple was stopped as part of an investigation by a MCS Narcotics unit, a Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna task force working undercover to investigate organized crime and the illegal drug trade.

Police say Caballero and Guadarrama tried to sell 228.1 grams of methamphetamine to a Cobb Sheriff’s deputy assigned to the MCS Narcotics unit.

The warrant stated Caballero attempted to flee from a uniformed police officer, causing cuts and abrasions to the officer’s hands while he forcibly placed Caballero in handcuffs.

Caballero and Guadarrama face charges of trafficking methamphetamine and willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
