W. Glenn Luckett, 73 years of age and resident of Marietta Georgia, passed away at home March 20, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday at First Baptist Church Chapel of Marietta with Dr. Bill Ross officiating. Glenn was born October 5, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky to Beatrice and William Walker Luckett. Raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he moved with his family to Marietta in 1973. He married Marti Pierce in August 1965. They were married for 48 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Marietta and devoted member of the Gary Bonds Sunday School Class. Glenn volunteered his time and energy to his family, friends, neighbors and church. He has been described as a leader in his neighborhood association, always organizing events and showing concern for others. He was considered one of the pillars of his church, neighborhood, and community. Friends described him as a godly caring man. Glenn was a dedicated and loving husband and father of three. He was called “Granddad” by six grandchildren who kept him busy building fire pits, bike ramps and leading them on adventures in their back yard. He taught them the importance of giving, kindness and humor. Glenn was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed. Glenn is survived by his wife, Marti Luckett of Marietta, Georgia; his son, Scott Luckett of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; daughters Paige Shonk of Edwards, Colorado and Erin Smith of San Francisco, Califiornia; two sisters, Bev Noe of Pompano Beach, Florida, Susan Mahoney of Phoenix, Arizona; grandsons,

Cooper and Carter Shonk and

Matthew Luckett; and granddaughters, Emilie and Caitlin Luckett and Morgan Smith. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 148 Church St. NE, Marietta, GA 30060 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758514, Topeka, KS 66675-8517. Family will receive friends 1:30 to 3:00 pm Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Marietta prior to the service. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta will be handling the arrangements. 770-428-1511.
