Marietta Police are investigating a car wreck that sent four people to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

Police say Thomas Dempsey, 78, of Cleveland, Ohio, for unknown reasons lost control of his car on the exit ramp from the Canton Road Connector toward Cobb Parkway, leaving the roadway at about 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Dempsey’s gray 2011 Toyota Highlander traveled through the grass, striking a ditch and becoming airborne before landing on top of a light brown 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by Boris Woodard, 56, of Marietta, who was headed northbound on Cobb Parkway.

The impact caused both vehicles to slide down the embankment on the west side of Cobb Parkway, where they separated and came to rest against several trees.

Woodard and his passenger, Anna Woodard, 25 of Marietta, were transported to Kennestone Hospital. Boris Woodard is listed in serious condition, and Anna is listed in critical condition.

Dempsey and his passenger, Delann Dempsey, 73, of Cleveland, Ohio, were also transported to Kennestone Hospital. Both are listed in serious condition according to the police report.

Charges are pending. Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Stephen Miller at (770) 794-5356.
