MARIETTA — A Marietta woman was arrested March 9 at 1:14 a.m. by Cobb Police on charges of causing severe injury by a vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.

According to the warrant, Tricia Rutledge drover her black 2011 Nissan Altima eastbound on Rosewood Drive, near where Roswell Road splits into Lower Roswell Road, while her husband, Jesse Wayne Rutledge, was hanging on the outside of the vehicle.

“Mr. Rutledge fell from the vehicle, striking his head upon the roadway, suffering severe skull fractures and brain damage,” the warrant said.

The arresting officer noted in the warrant that Rutledge had an odor of alcohol on her breath, “bloodshot glossy watery eyes” and slurred speech.

She was given a $75,000 bond and released from the Cobb jail the next day.
