A Mableton man was arrested at his home Feb. 23 after Cobb Police say he held a machete to his wife’s throat and threatened to kill her.

Anthony Thornton faces one count of aggravated assault against his wife.

Police say Thornton prevented his wife from calling authorities for help.

The commotion, which took place after midnight, awoke Thornton’s 10-year-old daughter, who told police that hearing her mother’s screams frightened her, according to the warrant.

The Mableton father was also charged with third-degree child cruelty.

Thornton was released from the Cobb jail later that same day on a $15,000 bond.
