Two area shooters win big at competition

The Georgia Gun and Ammo Shooting Team fielded three shooters in the 2014 Smith and Wesson IDPA Indoor Nationals held Feb. 20-22 in Springfield, Mass.

The annual competition brought together some of the world’s best competitive shooters for a 13 stage national championship match that concluded with three Atlanta area shooters taking home top honors in their divisions: Clint Bowen of Winston finished the match with an overall time of 212.67 (18.10 margin of victory) to earn first place in ESP Expert, Christopher Schatz of Austell completed the match with an overall time of 220.48 (33.13 margin of victory) earning first place SSP Expert and Dan Humphreys of Powder Springs finished in first place SSP Sharpshooter with a time of 222.10 (43.68 margin of victory).

In addition to their division wins, the three Team Georgia Gun and Ammo Shooters finished 14th (Bowen), 16th (Schatz) and 18th (Humphreys) overall out of 321 competitors from around the world beating out numerous Master and Distinguished Master shooters.
