AUSTELL — Charges are expected to be filed against a Douglasville woman who Cobb Police say caused a fatal wreck Monday afternoon on C.H. James Parkway in south Cobb.
At 3:30 p.m., Danielle Garcia, 26, was driving her red 1998 Mazda B4000 pickup truck south on C.H. James Parkway in the left lane, when she clipped a truck in front of her while changing lanes, said Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb Police.
As Garcia began “to pass the (red Toyota Tundra truck) on the right, the left front of the Mazda collided with the right rear of the Toyota causing the driver to lose control,” Pierce said. “The Toyota traveled through the center turn lane and collided head on with a white 2005 Infiniti G35, which was traveling north on C.H. James Parkway.”
The driver of the Toyota, Bobby Banks, 61, of Powder Springs was transported by ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Garcia did not require medical treatment at the scene, Pierce said.
After being struck by the Toyota, the Infiniti entered the path of a white 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer, which hit the Infiniti, causing it to catch fire, Pierce said.
The name of the driver of the Infiniti has not been released. The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased driver once the person’s family is identified, Pierce said.
The driver of the Freightliner, Alhassane Dansoko, 28, of Decatur did not require medical treatment at the scene.
Cobb Police assisted Austell Police after the fatal traffic collision.
