E. Harley Baker, 96, of Acworth passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at his residence.  He was born in Ft. Payne, AL, had lived most of his life in the Chattanooga and Ringgold area before moving to Acworth, GA 18 years ago. He retired in 1978 from Southern Railway as a Yard Foreman with 36 years of service.  He attended the North Side Christian Church in Marietta and was of the Baptist Faith.  His passions in life were gardening, hunting, and raising bird dogs and livestock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Westbrook Baker; son Charles Eugene Baker; daughter-in-law, Ann Smith Baker; brothers and sisters, Leroy Baker, Clyde Baker, Clevadell Johnston, Russell Baker, Eric Baker, Raymond Baker, Marvin Baker, Tommy Baker, and Amaryllus Baker. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Gayle Baker of Acworth, GA; five grandchildren, Wayne (Karen) Baker, Mike (Vickie) Baker, Tammy (George) Barnett, Cindy (Michael) Fisher, and Amy (Jason) Widdel; eleven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Monday at 3p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 1-3p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
