SMYRNA — Cobb police are searching for a man thought to have robbed a gas station in Smyrna.

At 10:43 p.m. Friday, police say a man pulled out a handgun in a Chevron gas station at 3601 Atlanta Road.

A gas station employee then opened the cash register and the man took out an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the business on foot, said Officer Mike Bowman, a spokesman for Cobb police.

Authorities are searching for the man described as an African-American in his mid-to-late 20s, roughly 5 feet, 8 inches tall who was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and black pants. Police warn the man was armed with a black handgun, and are asking anyone with information to contact them at (770) 499-3945.
