Isabel Amanda Green Fournace was born June 29, 1919 in Forsyth, GA to Nell and John Green. She passed away March 7, 2014 at the age of 94. Isabel was an Atlanta and Marietta resident for most of her life, spending her final 16 years at Atherton Place in Marietta, where she enjoyed every day of life to the fullest. Isabel grew up in the South, going to Bartow, GA each summer and spending a year with family in Argentina and Chile attending the American Schools. She married John Burdick Fournace on September 25, 1937. Children of the marriage included Jeffrey Burton, James Allan, Lee Steven and Janice McCullough. Isabel is survived by James, Janice, Lee, 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jeff; and great-grandson, Robert. Isabel was deeply involved with her children’s activities. Later in life she was very active with the DAR, Beta Club, Senior Citizens Fund Raising, and various civic organizations. She also held leadership roles in the Northside Women’s Club. Isabel was so loved by her children, family and extended family and will be missed by everyone that knew her. A memorial service will be held at Atherton Place on Saturday, March 8th at 2:00 pm. Donations may be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association. H.M.
