Brenda Llewallyn Wise, 63, of Gainesville passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. She was born in Atlanta on March 29, 1950 to the late Helen Llewallyn. She graduated from Wills High School in 1968 and attended West Georgia College. Brenda worked until 2014, having served in various departments of Georgia’s state government under Governors Zell Miller, Roy Barnes, Sonny Perdue, and Nathan Deal. She was actively involved in the implementation of Governor Miller’s Hope Scholarship and Pre-K Programs. In her most recent years, she worked with the Technical College System of Georgia, which helped establish a scholarship in her name. She was also a co-owner of Old South Barbeque in Smyrna, a restaurant founded in June, 1968 by her mother and father, Helen and Jim Llewallyn. Brenda is survived by her husband, John Wise, her son, and many other family members including two sisters and three brothers. A memorial service will be held at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna, GA at 11 am on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Visitation with the family will begin at 10 a.m. Flowers are accepted as well as donations to the Brenda Wise Scholarship Fund, 1800 Century Place, Suite 275, Atlanta, GA 30345.
