At 3 Amigos Mexican Bar & Grill in Marietta, dining is an experience with friends.

“We are family owned and operated. We are not a chain,” said Patricia MacCleesh, who came to Marietta in 1998 from Mante Tamaulipas (across the Texas border in Mexico) for family and business.

MacCleesh and Oscar Martinez, who own 3 Amigos, have been in the restaurant business more than 20 years. MacCleesh’s husband, Oscar Martinez, his brother and a friend started the restaurant. MacCleesh and Martinez have owned several restaurants including the popular Jose’s Mexican Restaurant once located in the old Kroger shopping center now used as Cobb County government offices.

Many dishes at 3 Amigos such as the homemade tamales and Poblanos are authentic Mexican.

“Our food is authentic but with a Texas influence. You will find very good Tex-Mex food here,” MacCleesh said. “Oscar, the head chef, is always in the kitchen making sure that everything is coming out the right way.”

Oscar prefers choosing his own produce and meat by hand at market daily.

“Everything is fresh. We make the chips. We make the salsa. We make everything. We do pretty much everything here. Every single plate is made the way you decide. We don’t have anything premade,” she said.

For first time patrons, MacCleesh recommends Oscar Delight — a special creation of grilled Tilapia, fresh avocado salad, Spanish rice with creamy cheese sauce of shrimp and mushrooms.

“It’s going to be fresh and good and you’re going to love it — every single bite. It’s delicious,” she said.

For something other than seafood, try Grilled Chicken Pollo Fundido in a bed of onions covered with cheese and chorizo served with rice, beans and guacamole salad and tortillas.

“Everything is delicious. There is a lot of love and passion in each dish,” MacCleesh said.

3 Amigos is a gathering place.

“We love being in the neighborhood. We love seeing our guests. We love visiting with them. It’s a good place to meet your friends and family. It’s good to see people enjoy our place and our food — that’s what we live for,” MacCleesh said.

“When you come in, you will be welcomed by a family like coming into a house. You really are welcome here, and you’re going to enjoy good food and good margaritas,” MacCleesh said.

3 Amigos Mexican Bar & Grill is at 1000 Whitlock Ave., Suite 400, Marietta.
