Church leaders should be ecstatic about ‘church-carry’

DEAR EDITOR:

In a shameful display of hypocrisy, church leaders and MDJ commentators are using their 1st Amendment rights to deny other Georgians of both their 2nd Amendment rights and their property rights. Church leaders are pounding on the podium for the power to throw their gun-toting congregants in jail for simply not following church orthodoxy. MDJ commentators want to use the heavy hand of government to limit what a private property owner can allow on his property.

HB 875 is about restoring choice and Liberty. After it passes, private property owners will be able to decide for themselves whether to allow background-checked and licensed gun toters to carry in their buildings. Churches, bars and private schools are private property, plain and simple. If any of them want to ban guns, they can do so via the Criminal Trespass law.

Church leaders should be ecstatic with HB 875. They can still throw grandma into jail for having a Glock in her purse.

Right, because God certainly won't show up in church to save you, might as well pack heat...
