MABLETON — A 31-year-old Mableton woman was struck and killed by a motorist while walking on Mableton Parkway near South Gordon Road at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Cobb Police said Vanessa Ordonez De Los Santos was walking in the northbound lanes of Mableton Parkway, which runs between Veterans Memorial Highway and the Chattahoochee River.

A yellow 2001 Nissan driven by Milton Ariaz, 60, of Mableton, collided with Santon, according to Cobb Police officer Mike Bowman.

Santos was transported by ground ambulance to Wellstar Cobb Hospital. At 8:49 a.m. Santos was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained during the collision, said Bowman.

Ariaz, who did not sustain any injuries due to the collision, was arrested on charges of driving without a valid Georgia driver’s license and detained at the Cobb jail.
