Zacchia Ray, who was arrested at her Crestwood Park apartment on Gresham Avenue, faces two felony charges of theft by deception and exploiting a disabled or elderly person, according to the arrest report.
According to the warrant, on Nov. 27 Ray stole $17,500 through a wire transfer from a Scott Credit Union account belonging to Edwin Curtis.
“(Curtis) did wire the funds to the provided account based on a belief he was wiring funds to an attorney, Anna Marie Weston,” to cover legal expenses for his grandson who was in custody at the Cobb ail, the warrant said.
The money went into Ray’s personal Wells Fargo bank account, the warrant said. Ray is accused of using her debit card to withdraw $200 of the funds from an ATM at a Wells Fargo bank at 602 Roswell St.
Ray was granted a $10,000 bond, but has not been released from the Cobb jail.
