Panini panache: Sandwich shop on Square offers novel combinations and healthy choices

Pressed for lunch? You bet ‘cha! Pressed Panini Bar has something delicious for everyone.

“Our concept was developed around the idea of a neighborhood sandwich bar, where one can walk in, socialize with friends and neighbors and all the while enjoy great food at a reasonable price,” said Alexis Aleshire who owns the eatery with her fiancé/chef Scott Kinsey. The couple also owns Taqueria Tsunami, also on the Marietta Square.

Pressed features a variety of unique, hot-pressed paninis, salads, and sides using fresh, high-quality ingredients to create wonderfully interesting flavor combinations. Its top-selling paninis are the Turkey Bacon Avocado complete with cayenne candied bacon; Turkey Brie and Apple Melt spread with a made-in-house basil mayo; and the Spicy Cubano topped with pickle jalapeño-relish.

The restaurant also offers vegetarian options along with novelty paninis such as the Peanut Butter, Banana and Honey Panini and the Nutella and Brie Panini. Sandwiches are served with a choice of potato chips, or healthier options of homemade corn and edamame salad or quinoa salad.

The entrée salads are equally tasty such as The Farmers Salad, a customer favorite that includes a combination of romaine lettuce, beets, goat cheese, apples, zucchini and pumpkin seeds.

“In addition to having delicious flavor combinations, the ingredients we use are very high in quality and very fresh — everything from the bread, which is delivered fresh daily, to the high quality meats and vegetables,” said Aleshire, a Smyrna resident who moved from Florida for the lifestyle and opportunity.

“Scott (Kinsey) is a creative and talented chef, who puts his unique twist on all of the menu items — like the horseradish mayo and chianti au jus we serve with our French Dip or the cilantro-chipolte mayo which is used on the Steak and Green Chile Panini,” she said.

Since opening in June in its fully renovated contemporary space (formerly occupied by Blimpies), Pressed has received a positive reception from Marietta. Aleshire said Pressed is rated by Tripadvisor as a top 10 restaurant in Marietta of more than 580, based on its reviews.

“We love Marietta Square. It is an amazing community, and we have always wanted to open a sandwich concept,” Aleshire said.

Prices range from $5.99 to $8.49. Pressed Panini Bar is open for lunch every day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To go, boxed lunches and catering also available.
