Church to host tribute to American black composer

Oral Moses and the Georgia Spiritual Ensemble will be guests of The Lynn Swanson Festival Singers in A Tribute to the American Black Composer today at 7 p.m. at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Smyrna.

They will be paying tribute to composers Wendell Whalum, Harry T. Burleigh, Scott Joplin, Byron Smith, Linda Twine and Moses Hogan. Also featured will be Phil Crumbly playing the Rags of Scott Joplin and Gospel Piano.

The church is at 2160 Cooper Lake Road, Smyrna.

Tickets are $15 adults, $10 students and ages 65-plus, and free for children 12 and under. Tickets available at the door or www.FestivalSingers.org.
