Students from Osborne, Pope, Kennesaw Mountain and Hillgrove high schools’ Transition Academies will participate in the third annual Transition Academy Service Social from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Osborne High School, 2451 Favor Road SW in Marietta.

The Transition Academies have partnered with Stop Hunger Now to package meals that will be distributed to crisis-burdened areas around the world. John Reid, a board member with Stop Hunger Now, is sponsoring the event, which gives students the opportunity to learn firsthand the benefits of volunteerism.

The Transition Academy is a program for young adults with special needs designed to foster independence as they begin to move from school to post-school. Students are encouraged to explore volunteer opportunities within the community.
