The Wildcats (13-4, 7-0) trailed the entire game before taking their first lead with 4 minutes remaining and never gave it up. Wheeler trailed by three at the end of the first quarter and by one at halftime and at the end of the third quarter.
Wheeler was just 8-of-16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, but hit four straight in the final 2 minutes to keep Milton at bay.
The anticipated matchup of region contenders was originally scheduled for Jan. 7 but was postponed after school was canceled that day.
Avery Patterson had 21 points for Wheeler, while Jaylen Brown had 17 and Daniel Giddens chipped in with 14.
Wheeler will host Lassiter today.
Sprayberry 62, Cambridge 44: After a sluggish first half, the Yellow Jackets pulled away in the second to keep their undefeated Region 7AAAAA record alive.
Sprayberry (15-4, 9-0) held a one-point lead at the break, only to outscore Cambridge 36-19 in the second half.
Nkem Ojeh had a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds to go with three blocks, while Armel Potter added 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals. David Tshamala had 12 points, and Wayne Johnson had 11.
The Yellow Jackets were playing a day earlier than usual, with their gym reserved today for the county wrestling tournament.
Sprayberry will return to action Saturday for a short trip to Walker.
Shiloh Hills Christian 66, King’s Way Christian 64: The Challengers survived for the narrow victory, despite being outscored in the final quarter.
Shiloh Hills (16-4) came into the fourth with a six-point lead.
Austin Greenway was one of five double-digit scorers, leading the Challengers with 14 points. Mac Jones, Jon Allen and Trey Bleck each had 12, while D.J. Ferguson had 10.
Shiloh Hills will play again today, hosting Covenant Christian.
Shiloh Hills Christian 44, King’s Way Christian 29: The Lady Challengers rolled to a 15-4 first-quarter lead, en route to the road win.
Samantha Henderson, who had six rebounds and four steals, scored seven of her 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead Shiloh Hills (12-6). Abigail Hendrix added six points and 11 rebounds, and Kayla Allen totaled nine points.
Sydney Robinson delivered eight points for Shiloh Hills, which will host Covenant Christian today.
