An Austell man is accused of shooting two pit bulls on Christmas Day.

Police say Corey Demond Smith told a neighbor he was going to commit a murder.

According to an arrest warrant, he then took a female pit bull from inside the man’s home on Aspen Log Place near Blair Ridge Road, took her outside and shot the animal in the head.

Police say after shooting the female dog, Smith returned to the man’s home, removed a male puppy and shot it once in the hind quarters and once in the head.

Smith is charged with two counts of felony aggravated cruelty to animals.

As of Wednesday, Smith had not been arrested, according to jail records.
