A Smyrna man was killed after he wrecked his motorcycle near Ball Ground on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Richard Seaborn Jenkins, 64, was driving west on Conns Creek Road at about 4:10 p.m. when his 2003 Aprilia left the road and started to slide into a ditch, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Jenkins apparently drove the bike off the road near Ball Ground Road and hit an embankment, a GSP incident report said. Jenkins was thrown off into a ditch, where the motorcycle then landed on him.

GSP troopers from Jasper arrived on the scene shortly after the incident and cleared the scene at about 6 p.m.

Jenkins died at the scene, said Tracey Watson, spokeswoman for GSP.
