MASSEY, Alex Ronald
MASSEY, Alex Ronald

The family of Alex Ronald (“Ronnie”) Massey of Austell, GA announces his passing on Saturday, January 11, 2014. At that time and during the last year of illness, he was able to know the presence, comfort and love of his son, daughter, grandchildren, siblings and other family and friends. As an avid fan and student of military aircraft and racing cars, we know he is now fulfilling his “need for speed” in a higher realm. Ronnie was born in Atlanta in 1945. He was a life-long resident of metro Atlanta, but lived most of his life in West Cobb County. He attended public schools in Norcross and Powder Springs Georgia and graduated from John McEachern High School in 1963. At retirement he was the Truck Tire Division Manager for Butler Tire Company in Marietta. Mr. Massey was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Sylvester Massey, Jr. and his mother, Mary Fairman Massey. A much loved father, brother and grandfather, he is survived by his son Paul Fairman Massey of Marietta, GA, his daughter, Carol Massey Nix of Marietta GA, a granddaughter, Victoria Nix, a grandson, Kacen Nix, three sisters, Sylvia Medford of Mableton GA, Karen Beard and Kathy Massey of Powder Springs GA and a brother, Bradford Massey of Hiram GA. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Chapel located at 3940 Macland Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127. The family will be available to receive friends before the service beginning at 10:00am. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Calvary Children’s Home, 1430 Lost Mountain Rd, Powder Springs, GA 30127.
