On Jan. 25 at 8 p.m., the ’Docs are rocking for the Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square.
This concert is the seventh performance the group has played to benefit the Strand.
“We usually play for the Strand once a year,” said Dr. Joseph Havlik, an infectious disease physician who co-founded Paradocs with pediatrician Dr. Larry Clements in 1996.
Most of the band members work or are related to people who work in the WellStar system. Band members include Dr. Larry Clements co-founder (bass, vocals), Dr. Joe Havlik co-founder (guitar, vocals), David Dasinger (lead guitar, keyboards), George Mitchell (drums, vocals), Donnie Adams (keyboards, vocals), Sid Beasley (percussion, vocals), Joey Brown (sound, lighting), Brittany Ginn (vocals), Dr. Waldon Garriss (trumpet, percussion), Dr. Alan Zuckerman (keyboards), Victoria Havlik (vocals) and Alexandra Havlik (vocals).
This year, the show will honor Executive Director Earl Reece who was recently hospitalized at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, resulting from unexpected bypass surgery.
“We’re dedicating the show to Earl to show our support,” Havlik said.
Phillip ‘Pip’ Arnold, a Kennesaw Mountain High School 2010 alumnus who competed in the second season of ‘The Voice’ on NBC, will join the Paradocs on stage for part of the show.
“(Pip) is going to be our special guest on the show. He’s a talented young man. He’s got a versatile voice and repertoire. We will showcase that,” said Havlik, whose daughters attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School with Pip.
The band appeals to people of all ages.
“We play music from all genres. We play rock, classic, R&B, country and contemporary music. We have something for everyone,” he said.
The night is a fun way to support an important cause.
“The Strand is an important place to preserve for Marietta. They’re still trying to pay the bills. We’re trying to help make sure the Strand is preserved. It’s a great resource for all the people in the area,” Havlik said.
The theater is at 117 North Park Square, Marietta.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of show. Tickets are available at The Strand Box Office at 770.293.0080 and online at www.earlsmithstrand.org.
