On Dec. 1, members of the Marietta Air Museum Cadet Squadron celebrated Civil Air Patrol Sunday at the Sanctuary in Kennesaw, the home church of Lt. Col. Tom Berg and Major Etherton.

The members were recognized by the congregation for their dedicated service in the Civil Air Patrol’s missions for America, emergency services, aerospace education and cadet programs. Members include Berg, Lt. Col. Charles Talley, Major Charles Poss, Major Ilana Mor and David Boyette.

In 1972, the Civil Air Patrol National Board designated the first Sunday in December as CAP Sunday. Soon after, the Saturday before was added to the celebration for those whose day of worship is Saturday. The weekend commemorates the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 1, 1941.
