Laura Duke Mauldin was born December 7, 1926 in Marietta, GA. She died peacefully at her home on January 7, 2014. Laura dedicated her life to serving others. Her last job was as case manager and coordinator for the Center for Family Resources’ food pantry. She held that position until age 82. Laura also volunteered and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Marietta. She was active in their Women’s Missionary Union and enjoyed the service projects. Laura was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Wilkie. She is survived by three other daughters: Patricia Thomas, Deborah Stephens, and Beth Brooks. She had eight grandchildren: Christine Hoesl, Terri McConnell, Tami Shields, James Thomas, Hannah and Josh Brooks, Jared and Taylor Stephens and six great-grandchildren. Laura is also survived by two sisters: Nancy Cranford and Linda Pearson, and a brother Michael Duke. Laura loved the Lord and was looking forward to being busy with the work He has prepared for her in heaven. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Marietta with a private burial at Kennesaw Mountain Memorial Park.
