Why Braves stadium so costly?

DEAR EDITOR:

Saturday’s “The Rundown” column included a short piece discussing Baylor University’s football coach, Art Briles. Apparently he is rumored to be considering the head coaching vacancy at Texas. He denied the rumor and said he is looking forward to leading the Baylor Bears into their new $260 million stadium next year.

I got to wondering how Baylor can build a new football stadium for $260 million when we all know the new Braves stadium will cost three times that amount. The minority stake provided by Cobb will purportedly be $300 million, more than the total cost of the Baylor Stadium. Are professional sports stadium costs really that much greater than stadiums built for universities? I’m perplexed.

Could it possibly be that subsidizing billionaires costs that much more in Georgia? But what the hell - we'll have her all paid for in 30 years! And I have a seat in the Snookered Section, along with all the other Cobb County taxpayers.
