Cobb County will conduct its Community Emergency Response Team training for seven sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Jan. 7. The deadline to register will be close of business Monday, Jan. 6. The CERT program trains people to be prepared for emergency situations in their communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims and organize volunteers at a disaster site.

CERT members can also help with non-emergency projects that improve the safety of the community. The classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23 and 28 at the Cobb County Emergency Operations Center. Members must attend all sessions to complete the program. Participants must be at least 16 years old. The Cobb Emergency Operations Center is at 140 N. Marietta Parkway. To register for the program, contact Kimberly Schneider at or (770) 499-4567.
