Police have identified the three people who were shot and killed in a murder/suicide at the Ivy Ridge Apartments off of Delk Road, just outside Marietta Sunday afternoon.

Pericles Demoura, 45, of Marietta entered apartment 20J Sunday afternoon and shot and killed his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend, Euclides Guinato-Bernardes, 30, of Marietta. Moments later, police said Demoura shot his ex-girlfriend, Thelma Vinhal, 35, of Marietta.

Demoura then shot and killed himself.

The crime

The shooting marked the end of a bloody week in Cobb County in which four people were gunned down in three separate incidents.

Neighbors called police at 2:32 p.m. after hearing gunshots from apartment 20J, and police arrived at the building to find three bodies, Pierce said.

Neighbors

Clusters of people were gathered in the rain outside at the apartment complex Sunday, which lies about half a mile south of Delk Road, as police searched the apartments just after 3 p.m.

Darcel Brown, who lives in the apartment behind the unit where the shooting occurred said he heard the gunshots go off.

“I could hear the shots through the wall. It was like ‘POW POW POW POW,’ then I didn’t hear anything. Then I heard a ‘POW.’ The last one sounded like it hit the floor. He sounded like he unloaded the whole gun,” he said.

A group of people who identified themselves as friends of the deceased stood in the parking lot under umbrellas crying. They declined to speak with reporters, but said they were “very upset” their friends had died.

Priscila Sena, 24, has lived in the apartment complex for about 6 months, and said nothing like this has happened before. When she saw the police cars, she thought they were there for an immigration issue, because the complex houses many immigrants, and was shocked to hear of the deaths.

“Just yesterday there were lots of kids out playing over there,” she said.

Sena was walking over to her friend’s apartment to make sure the friend was still alive Sunday afternoon.

“I’m shaking,” she said, “I hope it’s not my friends.”
