Marietta Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred at 2004 Winterset Parkway on Dec. 20 in the city.

At about 1:20 a.m., police responded to the home for a report of a person stabbed. They found  that 55 year old Juan Espinal, stabbed his wife multiple times during a domestic incident.

Espinal fled the scene in his vehicle after the attack and traveled to a residence off of Brookhaven Drive in Cobb County. Espinal set his vehicle on fire and subsequently set the residence on fire.

The investigation revealed that the Brookhaven Road residence might possibly be involved in the original domestic incident. Espinal was found several hours later unconscious on Chastain Road under I-75.

Espinal was rushed to Kennestone Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. Espinal’s wife was transported to the same where she is listed in stable condition. The occupants of the home on Brookhaven Drive were unharmed. Marietta Police detectives are working with Cobb Fire Arson Investigators and the incident is still under an active investigation.

Marietta Police Detectives have secured a warrant for Espinal on charges of aggravated assault. Other charges are pending. Anyone with information releated to this incident is asked to contact Detective Michael Freer at 770-794-5477 or the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at 770-794-6990.
