Fred Perry McCleskey Jr., 55, of Marietta passed away peacefully in his sleep Dec. 8, 2013. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 PM at the chapel in the Georgia Memorial Cemetery mausoleum, 2000 Cobb Pkwy S.E., Marietta, GA 30060. Officiating will be Dr. Wallace Wheeles of Kennesaw United Methodist Church. Originally from Burlington, VT, he faced many challenges in his life and met them all with great humor. A 1979 graduate of Rose Garden School in Cobb County, he had a love for music and could talk for hours about Elvis, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. He was a world traveler, visiting places such as Mexico, Great Britain, Canada, and Hawaii. He participated for several years in the Special Olympics. Known to everyone as Perry, he loved his family and could remember and loved to talk about every event that ever happened to each family member in their life. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred P. McCleskey Sr. He is survived by his mother, Grace Hoover McCleskey of Marietta, Ga, sisters Donna McCarthy of Kennesaw, Ga and Joyce Smith of Blue Ridge, Ga, brothers-in-law Tom McCarthy and Lou Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Right in the Community, mailed to RitC, 1830 Water Place, Suite 120, Atlanta, Ga 30339, or through their website: Memo line should read “In memory of Perry McCleskey”.
