An Austell woman has been charged with aggravated battery with intent to disfigure after police say she carved up the face of a babysitter with a set of keys on the evening of Dec. 10 at a local apartment complex.

Shandria Heard, 24, was also charged with third-degree cruelty to children because police say the attack on the babysitter took place in front of an 8-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy who were being babysat by the victim. She was also charged with felony burglary after police say she chased the babysitter into a nearby apartment.

According to the arrest warrant, Heard chased the woman, who tried to escape by running into a nearby apartment, where Heard caught up with her and used her keys to slice the woman’s face, leaving several cuts “which are likely to leave scars,” Cobb Police reported in the warrant.

Police say she also bit the babysitter’s right thumb, causing swelling and a laceration.

Heard is being held in the Cobb County jail without a bond.
