The Marietta Police Department is investigating the cause of death of a homeless man who was found this morning lying face-down in Rottonwood Creek, under a Delk Road bridge.
Officer David Baldwin of Marietta Police said the Cobb County 911 center received a call at 10:30 a.m. about a body floating in the creek.
When officers arrived, they discovered the body of a man who police have identified, but are waiting until his family is notified before releasing a name.
“That is a well-known homeless camp underneath that bridge,” Baldwin said.
Baldwin said the suspected cause of death of the homeless man was drowning, but the medical examiner will determine the official cause of death and if foul play was involved.
