Employees at 2 Ann Arbor bars see big mystery tips

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Employees at two Ann Arbor bars have seen some unusually big tips this year.

The Ann Arbor News reports that in September a $3,000 tip was left for an $87.98 bill at Bar Louie and $7,000 for a $200 bill at Alley Bar.

Alley Bar co-owner Robbie Schulz says he waited on a group of about five guys after University of Michigan's home football game against Notre Dame. He says they arrived about 1:40 a.m., had some drinks and one of them paid with a credit card.

Schulz says the tip was split among Alley Bar staff. He says the tippers wanted to remain anonymous.

The tips are among a number reported around the country in recent months. They're chronicled on the photo-sharing application Instagram using the "tipsforjesus" name.

City officials think gunshot punctured water tower

WICKSBURG, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama town is hooking hundreds of residents into another water system after someone apparently fired a gun at a City of Taylor water tower.

Taylor Field Supervisor Charles Douglas said he discovered a hole in the city's water tower off Bump Road in Wicksburg on Monday morning.

Douglas tells The Dothan Eagle that it appears someone shot it with a rifle, and that he thinks it was intentional.

Douglas said city employees drained the tower, and took it out of service on Monday. He said workers connected the 600 customers in the Wicksburg community into the Dothan water system.

It is deer hunting season and several hunters are using rifles, though it's not known whether a stray shot punctured the tower. No arrests have been made.
