The Junior League of Cobb-Marietta will screen a human trafficking documentary today at 6:30 p.m. in the Travis Duke Room of the Mansour Center, 995 Roswell St. Northeast in Marietta.

“Not My Life,” is a documentary on human trafficking written, directed and produced by Academy Award nominee Robert Bilheimer. Filmed on five continents and in a dozen countries, the documentary features more than 50 interviews with trafficking victims and their advocates in government, law enforcement, civil society and the private sector. The screening is part of a nationwide program sponsored by the World Affairs Councils of America and made possible through a grant from Carlson & The Carlson Family Foundation.

The event will begin with international speaker and author Susan Norris. In her debut novel, “Rescuing Hope,” she frames the realities of sex trafficking in America; champions the cause of organizations like Resolution Hope, Not for Sale and Out of Darkness; and lobby for stronger laws to protect victims.

Following the movie, Pattie Harrelson from Out of Darkness will provide information about how the community can help to stop traffickers and rescue victims.

An RSVP is not required, but participants can sign up on the JLCM Facebook event page — “Movie Night with JLCM.”
