Obama’s lies should come as no surprise

DEAR EDITOR:

As despicable (to conservatives) as the ’60s New Left radicals were, you had to give them credit for their honesty. They would tell you up front that their goal was to overthrow the establishment through violent revolution and replace it with a utopian socialist society. Conservatives could deal with that.

And then came along a man and a book that changed the world. The man was Saul Alinsky and the book was “Rules for Radicals,” written in 1971 and dedicated to Lucifer. Alinsky’s advice to the radical left was to cut their hair, put on a suit and change the system from the inside.

His approach was to use tactics from the “inside” to obtain the ultimate goal — the overthrow of the “unjust” capitalist system and its replacement with a system that was economically and socially “just.” He encouraged his “students” to target academia, the media, politics, religion, and business — become teachers, journalists, politicians, ministers, public relations executives, etc.

And what were the tactics he advocated and taught? Always keep your eye on the prize (the overthrow of capitalism) and pass yourself off as a liberal or moderate while doing whatever it takes to advance the cause — lie, spin, deceive, smear your opponents, etc. The end always justifies the means.

There are many prominent people today who adhere to the Alinsky methods and tactics. President Obama was schooled in the Alinsky methods and used his (Alinsky) tactics as a community organizer in Chicago and taught the Alinsky “rules for radicals” at the University of Chicago. Hillary Clinton wrote her college thesis on Alinsky and met him before he died in 1972. In her thesis she compared him to Martin Luther King and considers him a “hero” to this day.

Closer to home, I believe there are two far left “Alinskyite” writers whose columns appear in the MDJ.

Now you know what President Obama meant when he said “we are who we have been waiting for” and “we are one week away from the fundamental transformation of America.”

It appears the Alinsky methods are working beyond what he (Alinsky) ever imagined. The Obama lies are no surprise to me.

Steve, yes, many adherents to the Alinsky method, and they are teaching it to others, like the Tea Party:

Adam Brandon, a spokesman for the conservative non-profit organization FreedomWorks, one of several groups involved in organizing Tea Party protests, says the group gives Alinsky's Rules for Radicals to its top leadership members.

A shortened guide called Rules for Patriots is distributed to its entire network. In a January 2012 story that appeared in The Wall Street Journal, citing the organization's tactic of sending activists to town-hall meetings, Brandon explained, "his [Alinsky's] tactics when it comes to grass-roots organizing are incredibly effective."

Former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey also gives copies of Alinsky's book Rules for Radicals to Tea Party leaders.

Newt Gingrich’s most recent primary campaign was noted for featuring strong elements of Alinsky’s organizing techniques.

So, maybe you have low information. Or maybe you only WANT half of the truth. Only a political hack would ignore their own party's culpability while attacking the other side. It makes other Republicans, like me, look bad. This type of easily debunked nonsense is driving honest people away from the GOP. Despicable? Yes.

WOW! You are an excellent example of a left wing Alinskyite. Pretend to be a "Republican", isolate your opponent, and demonize your opponent. I'm an active Tea Party Patriot. I wonder why I never received my copy of Rules for Radicals? Nice try big Red. We're on to you big boy.

Steve, why don't you try researching the facts? I did. It was easy to find what I merely copied and pasted. The Tea Party is passing Alinsky's book out. Just because you didn't get a copy does not change the facts.

It is the U.S. Constitution and the Federalist Papers. Maybe you should read them.

Mr. Morris obviously means me. The only problem with his inane accusation is that I have never read anything Alinsky wrote. In fact, I'm a pretty successful capitalist who just happens to believe in a level playing field for everyone. If we can give big oil companies and the owners of baseball teams huge public subsidies, we can take care of the sick and poor, too. I'll have more to say about that Friday.

Morris probably never heard of Alinsky until Newt Gingrich deployed the name in South Carolina during his failed GOP presidential bid. He used Alinsky because it sounds and probably is Jewish, knowing SC bigots regard Jews the same way they regard a black president. Morris fell for it, of course.

Obama is barely a liberal as Bruce Bartlett, the former conservative DC insider noted. In case Morris hasn't noticed, corporate profits and the equity markets are through the ceiling. So much for taking down capitalism.

Foley - your slime ball comments are a perfect example of Alinsky tactics - demonize conservatives. As an involved conservative I read Rules for Radicals in the 70s.

Conservatives don't need my help. They do a great job demonizing themselves.

I'm glad you can read.

People, and I mean the ordinary man on the street, does not know this. The media has covered up for him, daily bombarding us with lies about the wonder boy. He is destroying our country and it has only taken less than 2 terms.

By the way, would love to know the names of the far-lefties who write for the paper.
