AUSTELL — A couple was arrested last month after police say they were covering up their affair by misleading the Cobb County Police Department about a hit-and-run car wreck.

Danielle Lynn and Lakeica Rawls, both of Austell, were arrested Oct. 27 on felony charges of making false statements and concealing facts in matters of the government.

According to the warrant, Lynn lied about his 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue being stolen from the parking lot of the Budget Inn at 1650 Blairbridge Road.

The false report was an effort to cover up an affair with Rawls, after the vehicle had been involved a hit-and-run wreck at the Lakeside Crossing apartments, the warrant stated.

“(Lynn) was given several chances to tell the truth about the incident,” the warrant stated. “Even with the information of the incident caught on security cameras, (Lynn) still made false statements in order to mislead (investigators) from learning the truth about the disappearance of the vehicle.”

Rawls is accused of hiding from police “who had crashed a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue into three separate cars inside the Lakeshore Crossing apartment complex.”

Lynn and Rawls were both released two days after the arrests on $2,500 bonds.
