(August 10, 1934 – November 12,) 2013 Willie “Dale” Lidelle Carter, age 79 of Marietta, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Roswell Senior Living following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. Mr. Carter was born in Rome, GA on August 10, 1934 to the late Lester and Thelma Carson Carter. After graduating from Pepperell High School in Rome, Dale went on to graduate from South Georgia Technical College in Americus, GA. He was then drafted and served his country in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he worked forSouthern Airways for several years as both a Pilot and Maintenance Supervisor for the Beechcraft and Cessna Aircraft. He retired with 24 plus years from Teledyne Continental Aircraft Inc. as an Aircraft Investigator. After retirement, Dale continued to work as-needed for the FAA as a D.A.R. (Air Worthiness Representative). In his spare time and during his retirement, Dale enjoyed crafting Shaker style furniture in is basement woodworking shop. He made beautiful keepsake boxes and built furniture for family and friends. In addition to his parents, Dale is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Don Unsworth. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Karin Martha Carter of Marietta; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia Ann and Michael Edwards of Woodstock; son and daughter-in-law, Hans Peter and Toni Carter of Marietta; five grandchildren: Jessica Karin Willis and her husband, Jacob, of Atlanta, Selena Nicole Prater of Chattanooga, Chase Alexander Carter of Atlanta, Noah Hans Carter of Marietta, and Cody Schaeffer and her husband, Paul, of Canton; great granddaughters Jordyn and Harlyn Schaeffer of Canton; sister Bobbie Unsworth of Rome; and numerous other relatives and loving friends. A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the Chapel of Lakeside Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to service time at Lakeside Funeral Home.
