Martinus Devonte Bennett, of Marietta, was arrested Oct. 25 and is being held on $5,000 bond after police say he intentionally set off a fire alarm in a hotel room and flooded his room, while possessing marijuana, according to a police warrant.

Police say Bennett barricaded himself in room 237 at the Days Inn at 2191 Northwest Parkway, Marietta, and set off the fire alarm by placing an open flame under a sprinkler head until it ruptured.

The hotel was evacuated as Bennett’s room was flooded, causing about $500 in damages to the hotel, according to the warrant.

According to the warrant, Bennett was also in possession of one ounce or less of marijuana, and his room was filled with small empty zip lock bags, digital scales and a small pocket grinder with marijuana residue on it.

Bennett is charged with criminal damage, second degree, possession of marijuana and false report of a fire.
