MARIETTA — A Smyrna man was arrested last weekend on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

At about 10:30 p.m. Nov. 2, police say Evis Roderiguez Figueroa, 48, assaulted a man with the fold-out blade of a black-handled pocketknife.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Atlanta Road in Marietta, behind Royal Package Liquor Store, according to the warrant..

According to the warrant, Figueroa stabbed the man three times, twice in the chest and once in the leg, before Figueroa was injured in the face and head by a person who attempted to stop the attack.

Figeuroa was arrested later that night at his home in Smyrna after fleeing the scene in a green pickup truck, the warrant stated. He was released Wednesday on a $50,000 bond.
