Wholeheartedly behind bond

DEAR EDITOR: As longtime Marietta residents and grandparents to two children in the Marietta City School System, we are wholeheartedly behind the redevelopment bond. For generations, Marietta has relied upon the younger generation returning home to start their families and businesses. As crime rates have increased, it is becoming more difficult to convince newcomers and the next generation to move to Marietta. Families relocate to areas with great schools, low crime rates and business opportunity. Marietta has great schools, but we are losing families to areas with lower crime rates and better business opportunities.

This bond presents an opportunity to turn the tide by removing a major source of criminal activity, ensuring our schools stay safe, and readying the ground for future business. Cities are either growing or dying. We want Marietta to thrive so our children and grandchildren will continue to choose Marietta as their home.
