Earlier this month, Hurricane Karen held off her arrival so that Linda and Bob Fierman could honor their daughter, Lauren, and her fiancé, Wayne Iddins, at a late afternoon garden party at their Marietta home. Attendees dined on made-to-order “take out” specialties from Chef Brett Eames’ Mixed Up Food Truck while sipping on Apple & Eve, a signature drink created for the couple. An assortment of mini cupcakes from Miss Mamie’s on the Marietta Square provided ample sweets.

The party concluded with a sunset champagne toast followed by a pinata challenge that a blindfolded Lauren successfully completed under Wayne’s capable instructions. Photographer Sirpa Hortsman was on hand to capture the event from start to finish.

Guests included locals Patrick Austin, Irene and Bob Berens, Nancy and Eric Dickinson, David Frew, Ashley Goot, Lauren Berens Hughes and Todd Hughes, Said and Diane Mohammadioun and Emory and Janet Morsberger.

Lauren’s maternal grandmother Muriel Fierman from Florida was in attendance as well as Wayne’s paternal grandparents Richard and Dorothy Iddins Jr. from Alabama. Brenda and Chris Iddins, Debbie Rothwell Iddins, Nancy and Richard Iddins III, and Haley and Bobby Isbell also drove in from neighboring states to attend the party.

On the following day, mother Linda, grandmother Muriel and future mother-in-law Deborah Rothwell Iddins accompanied Lauren to Bridals by Lori to help her say “Yes to a Dress.” Lauren is a 2003 graduate of Marietta High School.

A May wedding is in the works.

It is definitely a small world. After a recent Strand Theatre Board of Director’s meeting, Liz Cole was pleasantly surprised to learn that fellow board member, Cobb Commissioner, and Delta pilot Bob Ott would be flying the plane for her upcoming trip to Italy. Liz and several friends, including fellow Mariettan Janie Maddox, enjoyed excellent service by Pilot Ott, and Liz even got to sit in the official pilot’s seat prior to departure.
