Harrison’s boys cross country team earned its second meet title of the season Saturday, winning the Coach Wood Invitational in Gainesville.

The Hoyas had no runner finish in the top 10, but it was their consistency — all five scoring runners were within the top 30 — that keyed the victory. Harrison had 96 points to easily outdistance Brookwood (140) and St. Pius X (156).

Ryan Brock finished 12th overall in 16 minutes, 29 seconds. Jacob Cooper (17th; 16:39), Adam Watt (20th; 16:45), Spencer Borchelt (24th; 16:46) and Dylan Elmy (28th; 16.50) also contributed.

Marietta (166) was fourth, led by Jack Henderson’s time of 16:31. Kenan Farmer (16:07) led Walton (265) to a 10th-place finish.

Kennesaw Mountain’s Alex Dunlap (15:56) was the top local finisher in third place, less than 2 seconds off the pace.

The Harrison girls finished fourth overall with 211 points, trailing Marist (108), Peachtree Ridge and Brookwood (153 each).

Audrey Smith led the Lady Hoyas in 20:08, followed by Mattie Rountree (20:15), Kennedy Sorge (20:34), Andie Whitfield (20:43) and Natalie Johnston (21:02).

Marietta (239) was fifth, led by seventh-place finisher Mary Jane Assinzo (19:32). Walton (300) was 10th behind third-place Avery Bussjager (19:05), the top local finisher.

Region meets are next for the local teams, with Harrison and Marietta awaiting the 4AAAAAA championships Oct. 30 in Acworth, and Walton the 5AAAAAA championships Nov. 2 in Canton.
