ATLANTA -

Drivers in the metro Atlanta area should expect some delays at several locations this weekend.

Despite the chance of rain, numerous construction projects are planned, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Two lanes will be closed on the Buford-Spring Connector northbound from Monroe Drive to the I-85 exit for bridge joint repairs.

In Cobb County, beginning Friday and continuing over the next four weekends, crews will close North Marietta Parkway from US 41/SR 3 to Gresham Road/Wallace Road for concrete repairs. Those closures include the SR 120 interchange at I-75, according to GDOT. Drivers will likely see major delays in that area. Note: These closures are only in place on weekends.

Overnight lane closures on I-75 southbound in Cobb County will continue. There will be double lane closures from Chastain Road to State Route 5, according to GDOT. Those lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. each night.

Many surface streets around the Buford Highway/Sidney Marcus/Cheshire Bridge Road/Lenox Road area will have lane closures for work related to the I-85/State Route 400 Interchange project, GDOT said.

Drivers can also expect to see some lane and shoulder closures along I-85, I-285, I-75 and I-20 for drain cleaning and shoulder sweeping, according to GDOT.
