Winnie S. Hendley, 93, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 3, 2013, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Ga. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Mrs. Mrs. Hendley was born in the Wenona Community of Crisp County, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Richard Berry Smith and the late Lillie Jackson Wood Smith. Winnie is the widow of the late Sam R. Hendley. She is also preceded in death by her son, Richard Thomas Hendley, and her sister, Dot Smith Goodson. She was a member of the Cordele First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. A homemaker, Winnie was an antique dealer and operated The Nook for many years. She had a love for travel, but most of all she loved her boys and family. She is survived by her sons: Sam (Martha) Hendley, Jr. of Cordele, Mike (Mona) Hendley of Marietta, and Noel (Susan) Hendley of Greenville, S.C.; her brother: Bruce Smith of Rocky Mount, N.C.; her grandchildren: Reynolds Hendley, Stan (Katy) Hendley, Mary Louise Hendley, Michael (Sara) Hendley, Elizabeth Hendley, Richard Hendley, Jessica Winifred Emery, Mike Hendley; her great-grandchildren: Hayes Hendley, Reagan Hendley and Piper Hendley; and several nieces and nephews.
