Haunting for a ghostly experience? Go on the Ghosts of Marietta Tour.

Four different tours are offered including the Haunted Walking Tour (every night during October), Scaryetta Trolley Tour (weekends only) and Spirits and Spirits Tour and Haunted Pub Crawl (privately booked tours).

Talented storytellers guide guests through the rich history and ghostly tales around the Marietta Square area.

“We have a good time. You get your history and your spooky element as well. Our guides are theatrical. They will have fun with you. It’s an attraction and show as well as a history tour,” said Eric Smoak, ghost manager of Ghosts of Marietta. The lifelong Marietta resident and Harrison High School graduate has been employed by the tour for two years.

“With the Civil War in Marietta, there’s a lot of history and turmoil here. (The ghost tour) comes naturally. Four thousand men died at Kennesaw Mountain. There’s a lot of stories here, a lot of history,” he said.

During the tour, guests visit all the major restaurants and landmarks around the Square. The Scaryetta Trolley takes participants outside the Square to cemeteries and residential areas.

“You’re going to have a good time. You’re going to get a little creeped out. Our guides aren’t just teachers. They’re in costume. They’re having a good time, too,” Smoak said.

Ghosts of Marietta, located at 131 Church St. (off the Marietta Square across the street from First Baptist Church of Marietta), is owned by Cassandra Buckalew. Space on tours is limited, and reservations are recommended.
