Focus on rail, not BRT

DEAR EDITOR: Ron Sifen’s guest column in Sunday’s MDJ, “Cobb’s real transportation needs will suffer if BRT siphons dollars away” was another winner. Keep up the great work. Most people with cars don’t need BRT (Bus Rapid Transit). KSU students would not be using BRT either. If they don’t have cars or the chance to ride with someone who has, they wouldn’t risk being stuck on a bus from Smyrna for hours. They either live on campus or in a rental house close by.

People who like to shop wouldn’t use buses either. How could they shop with plenty of bags, waiting for the bus? I have experience at that. If you have to use the bus, don’t buy too much. (That’s how life was growing up in Sweden).

How about using the rail we have all over the county? Trains come very close to Vinings, Smyrna, Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth and Canton. Simple, use the rail we already have to go to Atlanta and connect there with MARTA.

Well, that would be too simple.
