Leonel Collazo Cordova of Smyrna was arrested Sept. 15 on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon, aggravated assault with the intent to murder and third-degree cruelty to children. He remains in the Cobb jail on a $25,000 bond.

According to the warrant, Cordova is accused of holding a loaded gun to a woman’s head at a residence in the 2700 block of Gray Road in Smyrna and allegedly trying to strangle her that same day, all in front of three children under 10 years old.

“(Cordova) strangled the victim with his hands to the point where she lost consciousness, convincing the victim (he) was going to kill her,” the warrant states.
