Alleena Ponder was the one who broke the game open with a two-run triple.
Taylor Hartenbach was 3-for-6 with two RBIs, while Bria Gober was 2-for-5. Madison Kendrick was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Sinclair Scott was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Devan Dowdell was 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Hartenbach gave up one earned run with 19 strikeouts and four walks. She also gave up five hits.
Marietta will host Harrison on Thursday.
Allatoona 2, Woodland-Bartow 0: A pair of two-out singles in the seventh inning was the difference as the Lady Buccaneers maintained their spotless Region 5AAAAA record.
After Morgan Kazerooni and Nicole Williams drew walks to lead off the inning, Woodland was one out from ending the inning before Madisyn Escue and Casey Lewis had consecutive singles to score Allatoona’s lone runs of the night.
Williams also had a single earlier in the game.
Makenzie Colwart (12-3) struck out seven, walked one and scattered five hits.
Allatoona (17-7, 7-0) will host Harrison today.
North Cobb 15, Campbell 0 (3 inn.): A 10-run second inning was the biggest blow as the Lady Warriors won the lopsided Region 4AAAAAA game.
Ericka Clifford was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and five RBIs, while Bryana Vazquez was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and four RBIs. Casey Page and Sarah Merced each had two hits, with Page contributing two runs and a pair of stolen bases and Merced one run and a stolen base.
Katlyn Tinsley (2-2) pitched an abbreviated no-hitter, walking one and striking out four.
North Cobb (17-7, 4-2) will host Hillgrove on Thursday.
Lassiter 17, Roswell 1: The Lady Trojans scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away in the Region 5AAAAAA game.
Lassiter (15-2, 7-0) got 10 hits in the seventh inning alone. The Lady Trojans started things off with seven straight hits before getting two outs in a row. Catherine Pizza then had a double and a single in the frame, and Abbi Ferrier added two more hits.
Amanda Wilson had a three-run home run in the third to help Lassiter break the game open.
Sydney Kayler was the winning pitcher. She went the distance, giving up four hits.
Lassiter will play at Collins Hill on Friday.
Kell 15, North Springs 0 (5 inn.): The Lady Longhorns scored eight runs in the third inning to break the game open against their Region 7AAAAA opponent.
Taylor Colclasure was 2-for-3 with two singles. Sierra Shipley was 1-for-4 with a double. Caroline Sarris was 1-for-2 with a double.
The Lady Longhorns also took advantage of five errors, and Lanie Angel and Sara Howard combined for a no-hitter.
Kell will host Creekview on Thursday.
Pope 8, Riverwood 0 (6 inn.): Kelly Barnhill threw a no hitter and struck out 14 to pace the Lady Greyhounds to the Region 7AAAAA road victory.
Barnhill (1-0) also had an RBI for Pope (10-7, 4-2), which led
4-0 through three innings and scored four more in the sixth to invoke the run-rule.
Lauren Palace was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Ellie Viland batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Megan Metzinger was 2-for-4 with a triple and stolen base, while Lindsey Monkiewicz had an RBI.
Pope will host Osborne on Thursday.
Harrison wins pair handily: The Lady Hoyas didn’t allow more than 15 points in any one set, beating Area 3AAAAAA rivals Douglas County (25-10, 25-4) and Kennesaw Mountain (25-15, 25-7).
Katie Doering and Taylor Haskins each had 14 kills on the night, with Doering coming out with a .722 attack percentage. Madi Bright and Allana McInnis split the setting duties, amounting 37 assists between them.
Harrison (28-8, 2-0) also controlled the service game, with 22 in the two matches. Sarah Taylor had eight, Andie Karmel five, Haskins four and Jocelyn Mahayag three.
Defensively, Mahayag had 20 digs, Taylor 13 and McClure 10.
Harrison will host its pool of the county tournament Thursday, welcoming Campbell, Allatoona and Mount Paran Christian.
Hillgrove sweeps area matches: In an Area 3AAAAAA play date at Harrison, the Lady Hawks swept the other two visiting teams, beating Douglas County (25-13, 25-18) and Kennesaw Mountain (25-17, 25-20).
Chioma Okonkwo led Hillgrove (11-12, 2-0) on the night with 16 kills. Janna Jerningan had 13 and Mackenzie Engram and Brittany Tullier each had seven. Myah Martin helped fuel the offense with 35 assists.
Okonkwo and Tullier each had five aces, Maddie Johnson had three and Jernigan two. Johnson’s 11 digs and Engram’s four blocks led the defensive efforts.
Hillgrove will travel to Pope on Thursday to begin pool play of the county tournament.
Allatoona cruises through tri-match: The Lady Buccaneers beat a pair of Area 5AAAAA matches, sweeping Villa Rica (25-9, 25-12) and host Woodland-Bartow (25-17, 25-11).
Julia Douglas and Sarah Braun each had eight kills on the night, while Jenna Usry had eight aces, Katie Cory 16 digs and Jaslynn Gwyn six blocks.
Allatoona (8-11, 6-0) will begin pool play of the county tournament Thursday at Harrison, in a pool that also includes Campbell and Mount Paran Christian.
North Cobb sweeps area matches: The Lady Warriors beat Douglas County (25-5, 25-11) and Kennesaw Mountain (25-12, 25-12) for a pair of Area 3AAAAAA wins.
Taylor Parrish led with seven aces and 36 assists. Savanna Gonzalez led offensively with 10 kills, while Kaitlyn Woodruff had eight kills and 2½ blocks. Tate Pember added 10 digs.
The Lady Warriors (20-9, 2-0) will begin pool play in the county tournment Thursday at Walker.
Kell earns split: The Lady Longhorns split a pair of Area 7AAAAA matches, losing 27-25, 25-20 to Pope but bouncing back for a 25-7, 25-12 victory against Sprayberry.
Ashley Jones led Kell (14-13, 2-2) with 21 kills, 21 digs and a block. Brittany Stocus added six kills, three aces, 1½ blocks and two digs, while Julie Edwards had 10 digs and six aces. Eliana Tiller (12 digs, five aces) and Savannah Corr (three kills, nine digs, two assists) also contributed. Joanna Tiller had 10 digs, 25 assists, four kills and an ace.
Kell will travel to Walker on Thursday to begin the county tournament against the Lady Wolverines, Marietta and Wheeler.
Walker sweeps: The Lady Wolverines opened Area 4A play by beating Whitefield Academy (27-25, 25-11) and Mount Paran Christian (25-22, 25-22).
Walker’s match with Mount Paran turned out to be a defensive battle, but it was Walker which made the plays at the end of both sets.
The Lady Wolverines took charge at the net toward the end of the second set, allowing then to get separation before the Lady Eagles made a run at the end.
Anna Chocallo had 27 digs for the day, while Jordan Tasman had 17 kills and 10 digs. Brooke Warner added 13 kills and six blocks. Sasha Fazylov came through with 13 kills, 12 digs and five aces.
Whitefield loses pair: The Lady Wolfpack kept up with their Area 4A county rivals but came up short in losses to Walker (27-25, 25-11) and Mount Paran Christian (25-23, 25-10).
Whitefield finished with 50 digs as a team. Kate McPhail served at 100 percent and had 12 assists and 10 digs, while Olivia Nicholas had 13 digs and four kills. Kelsey Butler had four kills and eight aces. Anna Long finished with five kills, six blocks and 10 digs.
Dominion Christian 3, Community Christian 0: Sabrina Johnston had eight kills as the Lady Knights won 25-22, 25-16, 25-19.
Lucy Niverson added 28 assists and 13 digs, while Anna Lineberry had 10 aces.
Dominion will play again Thursday, hosting Holy Spirit Prep.
