Mrs. Helen A. Davison age 90 of Marietta, passed away Thursday, Sept.12th. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday, Sept. 15th at Bethany United Methodist Church in Smyrna with Revs’ Susan Taylor, Terry Phillips and Pam McCurdy officiating. Interment will be in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. Mrs. Davison was born in Texas. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and married her childhood sweetheart Thomas Garth Davison. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES during WWII and was stationed in Atlanta, GA. She was employed by Rich’s, Day Care in Grove Park, sold cemetery plots; she was a caterer and was a kindergarten teacher for over 20 years at Bethany United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, traveling and church work. She was a lifelong member of Bethany United Methodist Church and held every position thinkable for the church. She was active in United Methodist Women, Trustees, Sunday school and the kitchen. She raised four children who are now active in United Methodist Churches in Marietta, Smyrna and Greenville Alabama. Helen was known for her generosity. She gave presents to her children on her birthday, presents to all her grandchildren at Christmas and wanted to remember them at birthdays also. She was very generous at her church in giving and could always be counted on to help raise money for any projects around the church. Helen was known for her joy for living and was a blessing to her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of over 60 years Thomas Garth Davison. Surviving are: Son Stephen Garth (Barbara) Davison of Forest Home, AL, 3 Daughters Anne D. (Sterling) Bowen, Donna D. (Travis) Carter, Karen D. Hamilton, 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Those who wish may make contributions to Bethany United Methodist Church Building Fund, 760 Hurt Rd., Smyrna, GA 30082. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Saturday, Sept. 14th at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna (770)435-4467.
